Alesa telephae

Alesa telephae est un insecte lépidoptère appartenant à la famille des Riodinidae et au genre Alesa. Dénomination Alesa telephae a été décrit par Boisduval en 1836 sous le nom de Eurybia telephae. Synonymes : Alesa negra Röber, 1931 ; Alesa prema forme sapphirina Biedermann, 1936.

Alesa is a New World (Neotropical realm) genus of metalmark butterflies found in northern South America. This genus is distinguished by a vast sexual dimorphism receding somewhat only in one species. The body is slender, the head is broad and slanting, with a flat forehead and closely appressed (flattened) short palpi.
