Classification

Ancistrus marcapatae is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Loricariidae, the suckermouth armoured catfishes, and the subfamily Hypostominae, the suckermouth catfishes. This catfish is endemic to Peru. Taxonomy Ancistrus marcapatae was first formally described in 1912 by the British ichthyologist Charles Tate Regan, with its type locality given as the Marcapata Valley, in the Inambari River basin of eastern Peru.
