Striated Frogfish

Antennarius scaber, the splitlure frogfish or striated frogfish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Antennariidae, the frogfishes. This species is found in the Western Atlantic Ocean and was previously considered to be a synonym of Antennarius striatus. Taxonomy Antennarius scaber was first formally described in 1817 as Chironectes scaber by the French zoologist Georges Cuvier with its type locality given as the Martinique.

Los ranasapos o peces sapo son la familia Antennariidae. Se encuentran en océanos y mares tropicales, excepto el Mediterráneo. ​ Aparecen por primera vez en el registro fósil en el Eoceno inferior, durante el Terciario inferior.
