Pronghorn

Antilocapra americana est la seule espèce du genre Antilocapra, et également la seule représentante actuelle de la famille des antilocapridés (Antilocapridae). Elle est appelée antilope d'Amérique ou antilocapre en français, ou encore pronghorn (dénomination anglaise parfois utilisée en français). Ce mammifère vit dans la partie ouest de l'Amérique du Nord, dans des milieux très divers.

The pronghorn (UK: , US: ) (Antilocapra americana) is a species of artiodactyl (even-toed, hoofed) mammal indigenous to interior western and central North America. Though not an antelope, it is known colloquially in North America as the American antelope, prong buck, pronghorn antelope, and prairie antelope, because it closely resembles the antelopes of the Old World and fills a similar ecological niche due to parallel evolution. It is the only surviving member of the family Antilocapridae.

El berrendo o antílope americano (Antilocapra americana) es una especie de mamífero artiodáctilo de la familia Antilocapridae. ​ Se trata del único representante actual de su familia, aunque hasta principios del Pleistoceno contaba con numerosas especies. Con el paso del tiempo, todos se extinguieron por diversas causas, dejando al berrendo actual como único vestigio de su presencia.
