Wasp Spider

Argiope bruennichi, commonly known as the wasp spider, is a species of orb-weaver spider found across Central and Northern Europe, several regions of Asia and Africa and the Azores. Like many other members of the same genus Argiope, this species has distinctive yellow, white and black markings on its abdomen. Description Argiope bruennichi exhibit sexual dimorphism.

Étymologie Le nom de genre Argiope vient du grec ancien Ἀργιόπη (Argiópē), un nom féminin composé de deux éléments : ἀργός (argós) — « brillant, éclatant, blanc argenté » ὤψ (ôps) — « œil, visage, apparence » Le sens global est donc : « au visage brillant », « à l’apparence éclatante », parfois interprété comme « celle qui a un éclat argenté ».

La araña tigre (Argiope bruennichi), también conocida como araña avispa o araña cestera, es una especie de araña araneomorfa de la familia Araneidae,​ de telaraña orbicular, distribuida por la Europa del sur, central y norte, norte de África y parte de Asia. Como muchas otras especies del género Argiope, muestra bandas amarillas y negras en su abdomen. Descripción Construye una red espiral al atardecer o en penumbras, comúnmente en pastos altos, un poco por encima del nivel del terreno, llevándole aproximadamente una hora.
