Arhopala aedias, the large metallic oakblue, is a species of butterfly belonging to the lycaenid family described by William Chapman Hewitson in 1862. It is found in Southeast Asia (Burma, Thailand, Peninsular Malaya, Sumatra, Bangka, Nias, Borneo and the Philippines). This species is in the male above magnificently lustrous light blue with a slight violet reflection; easily recognizable also by the under surface where the postmedian band of the forewing is divided into 2 oblique, almost parallel demi-bands.
