Barbicornis basilis

Barbicornis est un genre d'insectes lépidoptères de la famille des Riodinidae qui ne comprend qu'une seule espèce Barbicornis basilis. Dénomination Le nom Barbicornis leur a été donné par Jean-Baptiste Godart en 1824. Espèce Barbicornis basilis Godart, [1824] est présent au Paraguay et au Brésil.

Barbicornis is a monotypic butterfly genus of the family Riodinidae with its single species Barbicornis basilis present in Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. The species is easily recognizable by the very small hindwings provided with a long apex of the tail on the lower radial (uppermost median) vein. The original description was published in Encyclopédie Méthodique.
