Maguari Stork

La Cigogne maguari (Ciconia maguari) est une espèce d'oiseaux de la famille des Ciconiidae. C'est le seul membre du genre Ciconia en Amérique tropicale. Description Elle possède un plumage blanc et noir, un bec gris terminé par une pointe rouge et un lore rouge également.

The maguari stork (Ciconia maguari) is a large species of stork that inhabits seasonal wetlands over much of South America, and is very similar in appearance to the white stork; albeit slightly larger. It is the only species of its genus to occur in the New World and is one of the only three New World stork species, together with the wood stork and the jabiru. Taxonomy The maguari stork was formally described in 1789 by the German naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in his revised and expanded edition of Carl Linnaeus's Systema Naturae.

Características Es un ave de gran tamaño; alcanza los 130 cm de largo, desde el pico hasta la punta de la cola, y 85 cm de altura de pie, con poco dimorfismo sexual. Es de color blanco, con la cabeza, el cuello y el pecho con reflejos grises.
