Tamarugo Conebill

The tamarugo conebill (Conirostrum tamarugense) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It breeds in northern Chile and is a vagrant to southern Peru, and receives its name from the tamarugo, a type of shrub to which it is closely associated. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and plantations.

Répartition et habitat Cet oiseau niche dans le nord du Chili où elle fréquente les plantations et parcelles de Prosopis tamarugo jusqu'à 2 950 m et hiverne dans le sud du Pérou où elle peuple les zones de Gynoxys et Polylepis entre 3 400 et 4 050 m d'altitude. El conirrostro de tamarugal,​ comesebo de los tamarugales (en Chile) o pico-de-cono de los tamarugales (en Perú) (Conirostrum tamarugense), también denominado mielerito tamarugo,​ es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Thraupidae, perteneciente al género Conirostrum. Es endémica de Chile y Perú. Distribución y hábitat Se distribuye desde el suroeste de Perú (Arequipa) hacia el sur hasta el norte de Chile (Antofagasta).
