The following list of mantis genera and species is based on the "Mantodea Species File", which is the primary reference for the taxonomy shown here. The insect order Mantodea consists of over 2,400 species of mantises in about 460 genera. 75 of these genera are in the family Mantidae (the mantids), which formerly was the sole family recognized within the order.

Coptopteryx gayi es una especie de mantis de la familia Coptopterygidae. Se pueden encontrar en cerros, campos abiertos, lugares de alta vegetación, etc. donde generalmente suben a los matorrales o altos pastizales para mimetizarse y a la vez, poder cazar los insectos que se posen.
