Classification

The pygmy corydoras or pygmy catfish (Gastrodermus pygmaeus) is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the subfamily Corydoradinae, the corys, of the family Callichthyidae, the armored catfishes. This catfish is found in the Madeira River basin in Brazil. Taxonomy The first scientific description of the pygmy corydoras was published in 1966 by German biologist and physician Joachim Knaack, in Aquarien und Terrarien-Zeitschrift.
