The Machu Picchu arboreal chinchilla rat (Cuscomys oblativus) is a large species of South American chinchilla rat, known from skeletal remains found by members of the Peruvian Expedition of 1912. The animals were buried alongside people in ancient Inca tombs at Machu Picchu in Peru. It was considered extinct by the IUCN in 2008, but conservation status was changed to data deficient in 2016.

La rata chinchilla arborícola de Machu Picchu (Cuscomys oblativus) es una especie grande de ratas chinchilla sudamericanas, conocida a partir de restos óseos encontrados por miembros de la Expedición Peruana de 1912. Los animales fueron enterrados junto a personas en antiguas tumbas incas en Machu Picchu, Perú . ​ Fue considerada extinta por la UICN en 2008, pero su estado de conservación cambió a datos insuficientes en 2016.
