White-faced Spiny Tree-rat

The white-faced spiny tree-rat (Echimys chrysurus) is a species of spiny rat from South America. Found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana and Suriname, it is restricted to forest and rainforest habitats, living among the branches and feeding on fruit, plants, and insects. The rat's dark fur is darkest near the back of the head, which also has a distinctive white stripe.
