Fountainea nessus est un insecte lépidoptère de la famille des Nymphalidae et de la sous-famille des Charaxinae et du genre Fountainea. Dénomination Fountainea nessus a été décrit par Pierre-André Latreille en 1813 sous le nom initial de Nymphalis nessus. Synonymes : Nymphalis nesea Godart, [1824]; Nymphalis cleodice C.

Fountainea nessus, also known as the superb leafwing or Cindy's leafwing, is a Neotropical butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Description The adult butterfly's wings are mainly dark brown from the dorsal view, with pink and blue patches on the forewings of the male, the female instead has silver patches. The hindwings have several eyespots.
