Northern Flying Squirrel

Le grand polatouche (Glaucomys sabrinus) est l'une des deux espèces de Glaucomys (l'autre est le petit polatouche), un écureuil volant que l'on peut trouver en Amérique du Nord. Il est aussi connu sous le nom d'assapan ou d'écureuil volant. Il est répandu dans une grande partie du Canada ainsi qu'au nord des États-Unis, dans les forêts de conifères et les forêts mixtes.

The northern flying squirrel (Glaucomys sabrinus) is one of three species of the genus Glaucomys, the only flying squirrels found in North America. They are found in coniferous and mixed coniferous forests across much of Canada, from Alaska to Nova Scotia, and south to the mountains of North Carolina and west to Utah in the United States. They are light brown with pale underparts and grow to a length of 25 to 37 cm (10 to 15 in).

La ardilla voladora del norte (Glaucomys sabrinus) es una de las tres especies del género Glaucomys, las únicas ardillas voladoras que habitan en América del Norte (las otras son la ardilla voladora del Sur, G. volans -un poco más pequeña- y la ardilla voladora de Humboldt, "G. oregonensis", recientemente descubierta​).
