The ancient antwren (Herpsilochmus gentryi) is a species of tropical bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is primarily found in terra firme forests of northern Peru and southeastern Ecuador. This species was described in 1998 and named after the American botanist Alwyn Gentry.

El tiluchí antiguo​ u hormiguerito antiguo (en Perú) (Herpsilochmus gentryi),​ es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Thamnophilidae perteneciente al numeroso género Herpsilochmus. Es endémico de un área restringida de la Amazonia peruano - ecuatoriana. Distribución y hábitat Se distribuye en el extremo oriental de Ecuador (sureste de Pastaza) y norte de Perú (Loreto al occidente del río Napo y al norte del río Marañón),​ en las cuencas de los ríos Marañón, Tigre, Corrientes, Pucacuro y Pastaza.
