Sixgill Stingray

Hexatrygon bickelli est une espèce de raie vivant en eaux profondes.

The sixgill stingray (Hexatrygon bickelli) is a species of stingray and the only extant member of the family Hexatrygonidae. Although several species of sixgill stingrays have been described historically, they may represent variations in a single, widespread species. This flabby, heavy-bodied fish, described only in 1980, is unique among rays in having six pairs of gill slits rather than five.

La raya de seis branquias (Hexatrygon bickelli) es una especie de raya y el único miembro existente de la familia Hexatrygonidae. Aunque históricamente se han descrito varias especies de rayas de seis branquias, es posible que representen variaciones de una única especie muy extendida. Este pez flácido y de cuerpo pesado, descrito en 1980, es único entre las rayas por tener seis pares de hendiduras branquiales en lugar de cinco.
