Duvaucel's gecko (Hoplodactylus duvaucelii) is a species of lizard in the family Diplodactylidae. The species is endemic to New Zealand and regarded as 'at risk' by the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC) due to distribution limitations. Taxonomy The species was first named Platydactyle de Duvacel or Platydactylus duvaucelii in 1836 by André Marie Constant Duméril and Gabriel Bibron, who named the species after Alfred Duvaucel, a French naturalist who explored India.
