Hypoptophis wilsonii, unique représentant du genre Hypoptophis, est une espèce de serpents de la famille des Lamprophiidae. Répartition Cette espèce se rencontre dans le sud de la République démocratique du Congo et en Zambie. Description L'holotype de Hypoptophis wilsonii, une femelle, mesure 560 mm dont 100 mm pour la queue.
Common names: African bighead snake, wedge-snouted burrowing snake. Hypoptophis is a monotypic genus created for the rear-fanged (opisthoglyphous) mildly venomous snake species, Hypoptophis wilsonii. The species, which is endemic to Africa, is in the subfamily Aparallactinae of the family Atractaspididae.
