Audouin's Gull

Le Goéland d'Audouin (Ichthyaetus audouinii) est une espèce d'oiseaux Charadriiformes de la famille des Laridae. Le nom de cette espèce commémore le zoologiste français Victor Audouin (1797-1841). Comme beaucoup d'autres mouettes et goélands, il était jusqu'à récemment classé dans le genre Larus.

Audouin's gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii) is a large gull restricted to the Mediterranean and the western coast of Saharan Africa and the Iberian Peninsula. The genus name is from Ancient Greek ikhthus, "fish", and aetos, "eagle", and the specific audouinii and the English name are after the French naturalist Jean Victoire Audouin. It breeds on small islands colonially or alone, laying 2–3 eggs on a ground nest.

La gaviota de Audouin (Ichthyaetus audouinii) es una especie de ave Charadriiforme de la familia Laridae autóctona del Mediterráneo y de algunos enclaves costeros del Atlántico norteafricano y sur de la península ibérica. De aspecto similar a la gaviota argéntea, su nombre lo recibe en homenaje al naturalista francés Jean Victoire Audouin. Descripción La gaviota de Audouin es una gaviota de tamaño medio, que se caracteriza en su forma por el pico que es de color rojo con el extremo negro, manchado de amarillo en su punta.
