The four-eyed fishes are a genus, Anableps, of fishes in the family Anablepidae. Like other fishes, they have just two eyes, unusually raised above the top of the head. Each eye is divided into two different parts, so that they can see below and above the water surface at the same time.

Jenynsia maculata es una especie del género de peces de agua dulce Jenynsia, de la familia Anablepidae en el orden Cyprinodontiformes. Se distribuye en aguas templadas del centro-oeste de América del Sur. ​ Taxonomía Esta especie fue descrita originalmente en el año 1906 por el ictiólogo británico Charles Tate Regan.
