Arctic Hare

Le lièvre arctique (Lepus arcticus) est un petit mammifère recouvert de fourrure, adapté à un environnement froid (polaire ou de haute montagne) et à un rythme nycthéméral et annuel particulier. On l'a autrefois parfois considéré comme sous-espèce du lièvre variable, mais il est maintenant considéré comme une espèce distincte. Ce lièvre est adapté, tant par sa morphologie que par son épaisse fourrure blanche hivernale et son comportement, aux conditions climatiques du Grand Nord.

The Arctic hare (Lepus arcticus) is a species of hare highly adapted to living in the Arctic tundra and other icy biomes. The Arctic hare survives with shortened ears and limbs, a small nose, fat that makes up close to 20% of its body, and a thick coat of fur. It usually digs holes in the ground or under the snow to keep warm and to sleep.

La liebre ártica o liebre polar (Lepus arcticus) es una especie de mamífero lagomorfo de la familia Leporidae. Es una de las liebres más adaptadas como habitante de las regiones polares y montañosas. Una vez fue considerada una subespecie de la liebre de montaña, no obstante ahora se considera como una especie separada.
