Le nom de genre Leucauge, d'origine grecque, signifie « avec une lueur brillante », tandis que l'épithète spécifique venusta signifie « charmante ». Répartition On la trouve du sud du Canada jusqu'à la Colombie, le long de la côte Est, jusqu'au centre des États-Unis.

Leucauge venusta, known as the orchard orbweaver spider, is a long-jawed orbweaver spider that occurs from southern Canada to Colombia, along the East coast, reaching into the central US, also in South Asia. The web is often oriented horizontally, with the spider hanging down in the center. It is distinctively colored, with leaf-green legs and sides (which can sometimes vary to a dark green or even orange).

La araña del huerto (Leucauge venusta), es un arácnido perteneciente a la familia Tetragnathidae, del orden Araneae. Esta especie fue descrita por Walckenaer en 1841, originalmente bajo el nombre Epeira venusta. ​​ El nombre del género Leucauge en griego significa "con un destello brillante", y fue propuesto por Charles Darwin derivado de las colectas que realizó durante su viaje en el Beagle.
