Mandrill

The mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) is a large Old World monkey native to west central Africa. It is one of the most colorful mammals in the world, with red and blue skin on its face and posterior. The species is sexually dimorphic, as males have a larger body, longer canine teeth and brighter coloring.

Le mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) est un primate de la famille des cercopithécidés, apparenté au babouin et très proche du drill. Victime de la déforestation et du braconnage, le mandrill est menacé d'extinction. Description Le mandrill mesure de 56 à 81 cm, plus sa queue de 7 cm.

El mandril (Mandrillus sphinx) es una especie de primate catarrino de la familia Cercopithecidae (monos del Viejo Mundo). Está emparentado con los babuinos y más estrechamente con el dril. El mandril y el dril se clasificaron en el pasado dentro del género Papio, pero investigaciones posteriores llevaron a separarlos en un género propio, Mandrillus.
