Arhinolemur elongatus is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Anostomidae, the toothed headstanders. This fish is found in Minas Gerais and Bahia states of Brazil. Taxonomy Arhinolemur elongatus was first formally described as Leporinus elongatus in 1850 by the French zoologist Achille Valenciennes with its type locality given as the Rio São Francisco, an error, and the Río de la Plata at Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Megaleporinus elongatus es una especie de pez characiforme de agua dulce de la familia de los anostómidos e incluida en el género Megaleporinus, cuyos integrantes suelen ser denominados comúnmente bogas, piavas o piaparas. Habita en biotopos tropicales del centro-este de América del Sur. Taxonomía Holotipo y localidad tipo El ejemplar lectotipo designado es el catalogado como: MNHN 8624; se trata de un espécimen que midió 344 mm de longitud estándar.
