Megasoma mars

Le genre Megasoma regroupe des insectes coléoptères de la famille des Scarabaeidae, de la sous-famille des Dynastinae, de la tribu des Dynastini. Dénomination Le genre a été décrit par l'entomologiste britannique William Kirby, en 1825.

Megasoma mars, also known as the mars beetle or mars rhino beetle, is the largest species in the Megasoma genus. It is distributed primarily in the west-central Amazon basin of Brazil, ranging down into Colombia, Paraguay, and Uraguay. Description Megasoma mars is a large, horned beetle which typically ranges between 80 - 120 mm long, but has been observed to reach up to 140mm long.

Megasoma mars es una especie de escarabajo rinoceronte del género Megasoma, tribu Dynastini, familia Scarabaeidae. Fue descrita científicamente por Reiche en 1852. La especie se mantiene activa durante todos los meses del año excepto en febrero.
