Achilles morpho

Morpho achilles, the Achilles morpho, blue-banded morpho, or banded blue morpho, is a Neotropical butterfly. Etymology The genus name Morpho comes from the Greek epithet of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan War, the central character of Homer's Iliad.

Morpho achilles est une espèce d'insectes lépidoptères (papillons) qui appartient à la famille des nymphalidés, sous-famille des Morphinae, à la tribu des Morphini et au genre Morpho. Dénomination Morpho achilles a été décrit par Carl von Linné en 1758 sous le nom initial de Papilio achilles. Nom vernaculaire Morpho achilles se nomme Achilles Morpho, Blue-banded Morpho ou Banded Blue Morpho en anglais.

Morpho helenor achillides es una de las subespecies que integran la especie M. helenor, un lepidóptero ditrisio nimfálido del género Morpho. Habita en regiones selváticas de Sudamérica.
