Brown Pencilfish

Nannostomus (du grec: nanno = petite et stomus = bouche) est un genre de poissons téléostéens de l'ordre des Characiformes, de la famille des Lebiasinidae, appelés communément « poissons-crayons ». Le genre Nannostomus regroupe plusieurs espèces de poissons américains. Le nom vernaculaire poissons-crayons (Pencil fish en anglais) est un nom populaire qui a d'abord été appliqué à seulement deux espèces dans les années 1920, Nannostomus unifasciatus et Nannostomus eques, mais qui à la fin des années 1950 sera appliqué à tous les membres du genre.

Nannostomus eques (from the Greek nanos, meaning "small", the Latin stomus, relating to the mouth, and the Latin eques, meaning "horseman"), commonly known as the diptail, brown or hockey stick pencilfish, is a freshwater species of fish belonging to the characin family Lebiasinidae. It was first described in 1876 by Franz Steindachner, making it one of the first members of the genus to be discovered and described. It is fairly typical of members of this genus, being a small, elongated fish with prominent horizontal stripes.

Nannostomus eques es una especie de peces de la familia Lebiasinidae en el orden de los Characiformes. Morfología Cuerpo ahusado, alargado, hidrodinámico, y con cabeza muy puntiaguda, y muy pequeña. También su boca es muy chica.
