Caney Fork Darter

Nothonotus starnesi, the Caney Fork darter, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish, a darter from the subfamily Etheostomatinae, part of the family Percidae, which also contains the perches, ruffes and pikeperches. It is endemic to Caney Creek in Tennessee. This species is found in small rivers where there are riffles with clear water and a gravel substrate.

Nothonotus es una género o subgénero de peces de agua dulce con aletas radiadas, inccluidos en subfamilia Etheostomatinae de la familia Percidae en el orden de los Perciformes. Es endémico del sureste de los Estados Unidos. ​ Inicialmente fue propuesto como un subgénero de Etheostoma en 1988, aún existe debate sobre el rango taxonómico apropiado de Nothonotus.
