California Ground Squirrel

Le Spermophile de Californie (Otospermophilus beecheyi), aussi appelé Écureuil terrestre de Californie est une espèce de rongeurs de la famille des Sciuridés. Il est commun et facile à observer de l'ouest des États-Unis et du nord du Mexique. Son nom latin commémore le naturaliste américain Frederick William Beechey (1796-1856).

The California ground squirrel (Otospermophilus beecheyi), also known as the Beechey ground squirrel, is a common and easily observed ground squirrel of the western United States and the Baja California Peninsula; it is common in Oregon and California and its range has relatively recently extended into Washington and northwestern Nevada.
