Pasimachus () is a genus of North American beetles in the family Carabidae Etymology While the exact reason for the naming of the genus is unknown, the name has been theorized to have been derived from Ancient Greek πᾶς (pâs; "all") and μᾰχητής, (makhētḗs; "warrior", "fighter"). It also coincides with the name of Pasimachus, a cavalry commander mentioned in Hellenica. The reason for this naming could be due to the genus' large mandibles and carnivory.

Pasimachus es un género de coleópteros adéfagos de la familia Carabidae. ​ Etimología Aunque se desconoce el motivo exacto del nombre del género, se ha teorizado que el nombre deriva del griego antiguo πᾶς ( pâs; "todo") y μᾰχητής ( makhētḗs ; "guerrero", "luchador"). También coincide con el nombre de Pasímaco, un comandante de caballería mencionado en las Helénicas.
