Petaurista sybilla désignait un pétauriste tacheté du Yunnan et de régions voisines d’Asie du Sud-Est continentale. Les classifications antérieures l’avaient séparé de Petaurista elegans. À la suite d’une révision taxonomique publiée en 2025, la Mammal Diversity Database le considère désormais comme un synonyme de Petaurista marica et non comme une espèce distincte.

Petaurista sybilla was used for a spotted giant flying squirrel from Yunnan and neighboring parts of mainland Southeast Asia. It was separated from Petaurista elegans in earlier classifications. Following a 2025 taxonomic revision, the Mammal Diversity Database now treats it as a synonym of Petaurista marica rather than as a separate species.

Petaurista sybilla se utilizaba para una ardilla voladora gigante moteada de Yunnan y zonas vecinas del sudeste asiático continental. Las clasificaciones anteriores la separaron de Petaurista elegans. Tras una revisión taxonómica publicada en 2025, Mammal Diversity Database la considera actualmente un sinónimo de Petaurista marica y no una especie distinta.
