Pinna carnea, commonly called the amber pen shell, is a species of bivalve mollusc in the family Pinnidae. Description The amber pen shell has a pair of long, thin translucent valves held together by ligaments that run along the entire dorsal side of the bivalve. The bivalve is triangular with 8 to 12 low ribs radiating from the pointed anterior end (or umbo) to the large posterior edge.

El rompechinchorro (Pinna carnea) es una especie de molusco bivalvo de la familia Pinnidae, descrita por el naturalista alemán Johann F. Gmelin en 1791. ​ Nombre común En Venezuela se le denomina con diferentes nombres vernáculos como rompe chinchorro, hacha o concha abanico.
