La Contre-illumination ou Contre-éclairage, est une méthode de camouflage actif utilisant une source de lumière pour éclairer une surface à contre-jour afin d'en réduire le contraste avec l'arrière-plan. Cette méthode est observée dans la nature chez les animaux marins, notamment des crustacés, des céphalopodes et des poissons. La contre-illumination a été testée à des fins militaires au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, mais n'a jamais été déployée à grande échelle.
The plainfin midshipman (Porichthys notatus) is a species of bottom-dwelling batrachoid toadfish. It is a member of the midshipman genus, Porichthys, the only batrachoid fishes that have photophores. It is native to the North American coast of the Pacific Ocean, where its distribution extends along the coast from Sitka, Alaska, to Magdalena Bay in southern Baja California.
El sapo cabezón o sapo de aleta lucia (Porichthys notatus) es una especie de pez de la familia Batrachoididae. Es nativo del Océano Pacífico oriental y se distribuye desde la costa de Sitka, Alaska, hasta la Bahía de Magdalena en Baja California Sur. Descripción Mide 38 cm de longitud.
