Giant Otter Shrew

Le Potamogale (Potamogale velox) est une espèce de petit mammifère de la famille des Tenrecidae. C'est la seule espèce du genre Potamogale. Il vit dans les forêts équatoriales humides d'Afrique sub-saharienne.

The giant otter shrew (Potamogale velox) is a semiaquatic, carnivorous afrotherian mammal. It is found in the main rainforest block of central Africa from Nigeria to Zambia, with a few isolated populations in Kenya and Uganda. It lives in streams, wetlands and slow flowing larger rivers.

El tenrec nutria gigante, musaraña nutria o musaraña acuática gigante (Potamogale velox) es una especie de mamífero afrosorícido, anteriormente se la incluía en la familia Tenrecidae,​ pero actualmente se incluye en una Familia aparte, Potamogalidae, junto al Género Micropotamogale. ​ Es la única especie de su género y no se reconocen subespecies. ​ Morfología La musaraña nutria está perfectamente adaptada a la vida acuática y su aspecto recuerda al de la nutria.
