Pelagic Stingray

Pteroplatytrygon violacea, la Pastenague violette, est une espèce de raies marines appartenant à la famille des Dasyatidae. C'est la seule espèce de son genre Pteroplatytrygon (monotypique). C'est une espèce cosmopolite qui vit dans les eaux tropicales et tempérées entre la surface et 381 m de profondeur.

The pelagic stingray (Pteroplatytrygon violacea) is a species of stingray in the family Dasyatidae, and the sole member of its genus. It is characterized by the wedge-like shape of its pectoral fin disc, which is much wider than long, as well as by the pointed teeth in both sexes, whip-like tail with extremely long tail spine, and uniform violet to blue-green coloration. It generally reaches 59 cm (23 in) in width.

La raya pelágica (Pteroplatytrygon violacea) es una especie de rayas látigo de la familia Dasyatidae. Se caracteriza por sus anchas aletas pectorales que rodea todo su cuerpo, la cola es corta, pero con uno o más aguijones venenosos. Su coloración es violeta-azul con el vientre blanco.
