American Avocet

L'Avocette d'Amérique ou Avocette américaine (Recurvirostra americana) est une espèce d'oiseaux Charadriiformes de la famille des Recurvirostridae. Selon la classification de référence du Congrès ornithologique international (version 15. 2, 2026), c'est une espèce monotypique (non subdivisée en sous-espèces).

The American avocet (Recurvirostra americana) is a large wader in the avocet and stilt family, Recurvirostridae, found in North America. It spends much of its time foraging in shallow water or on mud flats, often sweeping its bill from side to side in water as it seeks crustacean and insect prey. Taxonomy The American avocet was formally described in 1789 by the German naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in his revised and expanded edition of Carl Linnaeus's Systema Naturae.

La avoceta americana​ (Recurvirostra americana) es una especie de ave caradriforme de la familia Recurvirostridae. ​ No se reconocen subespecies. ​ Como todos los miembros de su género, presenta el pico recurvado (curvatura hacia arriba).
