Blackblotch Squirrelfish

Les Priacanthidae sont une famille de poissons marins de l'ordre des Perciformes représentée par quatre genres et 19 espèces habituellement nommées « beauclaire » en français. Description Il s'agit de poissons de taille moyenne (20 à 50 cm selon les espèces) à la coloration chatoyante et présentant un œil particulièrement grand qui leur a valu leurs noms communs anglais bigeye, bullseye.

Sargocentron melanospilos, the blackbotch squirrelfish, is a species of squirrelfish in the genus of Sargocentron. It is found in the Indo-Pacific region in the Red Sea; Zanzibar, Tanzania; from Aldabra and Seychelles to the Marshall Islands and American Samoa; north to Taiwan, southern Japan and the Ogasawara Islands, and south to the southern Great Barrier Reef and the Chesterfield Islands. It is a relatively uncommon inhabitant of rocky reefs and coral-rich areas, and is usually seen solitary, but it also forms schools when in deeper water or oceanic areas.

Los candiles o carajuelos del género Sargocentron son peces marinos de la familia holocéntridos, distribuidos por aguas tropicales de todos los océanos del mundo, el mar Caribe y el Golfo de México. ​ Tienen el cuerpo comprimido lateralmente con fuertes espinas, de color generalmente rojo con manchas normalmente rayas horizontales. Viven a poco profundidad asociados a arrecifes de coral en aguas cálidas.
