Sassacus cyaneus is a species of jumping spider in the genus Sassacus. It is found across much of North America, from Canada and the United States including New England south to Florida and west to Texas, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Etymology The specific name cyaneus derives from the Greek word κυάνεος (kyaneos), meaning "dark blue", referring to the spider's dark metallic coloration.
