Sebastolobus altivelis, the longspine thornyhead, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the subfamily Sebastinae, the rockfishes, part of the family Scorpaenidae. It is found in deep waters of the northeastern Pacific Ocean. Longspine thornyhead are similar in appearance to shortspine thornyhead though they don't grow as large and are typically found in deeper water.

Sebastidae es una familia de peces marinos incluida en el orden Scorpaeniformes, distribuidos por los océanos Atlántico, Índico y Pacífico, aunque el género mayoritario Sebastes aparece solo en el norte del Pacífico. ​ Su nombre procede del griego sebastes = augusto o admirable, adjetivo que otorgaban los antiguos romanos al emperador Augusto. ​ Tienen el cuerpo comprimido, la cabeza normalmente con crestas y espinas.
