Calliope Hummingbird

Le Colibri calliope (Selasphorus calliope) est une espèce migratrice de colibris vivant à l'ouest du continent nord-américain (du Canada au Mexique). C'est le plus petit oiseau que l'on trouve au Canada et aux États-Unis. Cette espèce était autrefois placée dans un genre propre, Stellula.

The calliope hummingbird ( kə-LY-ə-pee; Selasphorus calliope) is the smallest bird native to the United States and Canada. It has a western breeding range mainly from California to British Columbia, and migrates to the Southwestern United States, Mexico, and Central America for its wintering grounds. The calliope hummingbird is the smallest known long-distance bird migrant, completing migrations twice per year of some 9,000 km (5,600 mi).

El colibrí calíope​ (Selasphorus calliope), también denominado colibrí garganta rayada, zumbador garganta rayada o chupaflor rafaguitas,​ es una especie de ave apodiforme de la familia Trochilidae, perteneciente al género Selasphorus, anteriormente se le consideró el único miembro del género Stellula, pero las evidencias recientes indican su ubicación en el presente género . ​ Es nativa de los Estados Unidos y Canadá, donde anida, y en invierno migra hasta México. Descripción Este es el ave más pequeña que anida en Canadá y los Estados Unidos.
