Oriental Eyed Hawkmoth

Le Sphinx demi-paon (Smerinthus ocellatus), est une espèce de lépidoptères de la famille des Sphingidae, sous-famille des Smerinthinae, de la tribu des Smerinthini et du genre Smerinthus. Description Envergure du mâle : 32 à 38 mm. Chenille verdâtre, finement piquetée de blanc, striée latéralement de lignes claires.

Smerinthus planus, the Oriental eyed hawkmoth, is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It was described by Francis Walker in 1856. It is found from northern Xinjiang across northern China, Mongolia and south-eastern Siberia to the Russian Far East and Japan, and then south through Korea and Taiwan to Hainan, Yunnan and eastern Tibet.
