Northern Shoveler

Le Canard souchet (Spatula clypeata, anciennement Anas clypeata) est une espèce de canards barboteurs et « filtreurs » qui se reproduit dans les zones septentrionales de l'Eurasie et dans la plupart de l'Amérique du Nord. Il est accidentel en Australie. Habituellement placée dans le genre Anas, cette espèce, assez différente du Canard colvert (Anas platyrhynchos), est classée avec d'autres espèces aux ailes bleues dans le genre Spatula par certains auteurs.

The northern shoveler (; Spatula clypeata), often known simply as the shoveler where other related species do not occur, is a common and widespread duck. It breeds in northern areas of Europe and throughout the Palearctic and across most of North America, and winters in southern Europe, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. It is a rare vagrant to Australia.

El cuchara común (Spatula clypeata),​ también denominado pato cuchara, pato cucharo, pato cuchareta o pato cucharón norteño,​ es una especie de ave anseriforme de la familia Anatidae ampliamente extendida por el mundo, que cría en el norte de Eurasia y Norteamérica y migra al sur para pasar el invierno en el sur de Europa, Asia y Norteamérica, el norte de África y el extremo noroccidental de Sudamérica. También se han registrado avistamientos en Perú, donde su estado aun es desconocido. Anteriormente era conocido como Anas clypeata.
