La Sarcelle hottentote (Spatula hottentota, anciennement Punanetta hottentota ou Anas hottentota) ou Sarcelle à bec bleu est une espèce de canards barboteurs de la famille des Anatidae. Habitat La Sarcelle hottentote vit dans des milieux ouverts tels que des lacs et des marais, ainsi que des étangs d'eau douce peu profonds riches en végétation. Répartition Son aire s'étend de l'Éthiopie à l'Afrique australe et Madagascar, avec une population isolée dans le sud du Niger, le nord du Nigeria, l'ouest du Tchad et l'extrême nord du Cameroun.
The blue-billed teal (Spatula hottentota), also sometimes called spotted teal and formerly Hottentot teal, is a species of dabbling duck of the genus Spatula. It is resident in eastern, southern, and western Africa, from Sudan and Ethiopia west to Niger and Nigeria, and south to South Africa and Namibia, and also in Madagascar. It is generally sedentary, but shows nomadic behaviour in response to water requirements, moving away if drought causes wetlands to dry out.
