Sphinx gordius est une espèce de lépidoptères (papillons) de la famille des Sphingidae, de la sous-famille des Sphinginae et de la tribu des Sphingini. Description L'envergure varie de 68 à 108 mm. L'espèce est étroitement apparentée à Sphinx poecila.
Sphinx poecila, the poecila sphinx, is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is found from Newfoundland and Maine south to Pennsylvania and west to Michigan, northeastern Illinois and Wisconsin. The wingspan is 68–95 mm.
Sphinx es un género de lepidópteros nocturnos de la familia Sphingidae. Fue descrito por Carl Linnaeus en su décima edición del Systema naturæ, de 1758. La mayoría de las especies del género habitan en América, principalmente el Neártico, pero también en el Paleártico.
