American Goldfinch

Le Chardonneret jaune (Spinus tristis, anciennement Carduelis tristis), appelé aussi « canari sauvage » ou Tarin triste, est une espèce présente en Amérique du Nord ainsi qu'aux Bahamas et dans les Îles Turks-et-Caïcos. Il appartient à la famille des pinsons. Oiseau migrateur, il est présent du sud du Canada à la Caroline du Nord pendant la saison de reproduction et de la frontière canadienne au Mexique pendant l'hiver.

The American goldfinch (Spinus tristis) is a small North American bird in the finch family. It is migratory, ranging from mid-Alberta to North Carolina during the breeding season, and from just south of the Canada–United States border to Mexico during the winter. The only finch in its subfamily to undergo a complete molt, the American goldfinch displays sexual dichromatism: the male is a vibrant yellow in the summer and an olive color during the winter, while the female is a dull yellow-brown shade which brightens only slightly during the summer.

El jilguero yanqui o jilguero norteamericano (Spinus tristis)​ es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Fringillidae propia de Norteamérica, así como las Bahamas y las islas Turcas y Caicos. Descripción Se caracteriza por su acentuado dimorfismo sexual. El macho que tiene plumaje verde olivo a castaño durante el invierno luce amarillo brillante durante el verano para atraer a las hembras durante la temporada de apareamiento, en tanto que el plumaje mate pardo amarillento de las hembras se hace más brillante durante el verano.
