The opal-rumped tanager (Tangara velia) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest of South America. The population of the Atlantic Forest has a far paler chest than the other populations, and has often been considered a separate species as the silvery-breasted tanager (Tangara cyanomelas).

La tangara pechiplateada (Tangara cyanomelas)​ es una especie —o la subespecie Tangara velia cyanomelas, dependiendo de la clasificación considerada— de ave paseriforme de la familia Thraupidae, perteneciente al numeroso género Tangara. ​ Es endémica del este de Brasil. Distribución y hábitat Se distribuye en el litoral oriental de Brasil, desde Pernambuco hasta Río de Janeiro, pero actualmente principalmente de Espirito Santo hacia el norte.
