Great Antshrike

Le Grand Batara (Taraba major) est une espèce de passereaux en grande partie sédentaire de la famille des Thamnophilidae, natif de l'écozone néotropicale. Description Le Grand Batara mesure environ 20 cm. Les deux sexes sont pourvus d'une huppe et d'iris écarlates.

The great antshrike (Taraba major) is a passerine bird in subfamily Thamnophilinae of family Thamnophilidae, the "typical antbirds". It is found in southern Mexico, in every Central American country except El Salvador, on Trinidad, and in every mainland South American country except Chile, though only as a vagrant in Uruguay. Taxonomy and systematics The great antshrike was described by the French ornithologist Louis Pierre Vieillot in 1816 and given the binomial name Thamnophilus major.

El batará mayor​ (en Argentina, Colombia, México, Nicaragua y Venezuela) (Taraba major), también denominado batará grande (en Colombia, Costa Rica y Perú), batará blanco y negro, chororó (en Argentina y Paraguay), hormiguero mayor (en Nicaragua) u hormiguero grande (en Honduras),​ es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Thamnophilidae. Es el único integrante del género monotípico Taraba. Se encuentra desde el sur de México, por América Central y del Sur hasta el centro de Argentina.
