Helmethead Gecko

Tarentola chazaliae est une espèce de geckos de la famille des Phyllodactylidae. Répartition Cette espèce se rencontre au Sénégal, en Mauritanie, au Sahara occidental et dans le sud du Maroc. Description C'est un gecko relativement petit (un peu plus de 10 cm) qui partage avec les Tarentola un aspect trapu.

The helmethead gecko (Tarentola chazaliae), also known commonly as the helmeted gecko, is a species of lizard in the family Phyllodactylidae. The species is native to the northwestern coast of Africa, where it is present in Mauritania, Morocco, and Western Sahara. The environment in which this gecko lives is sandy and rocky desert with sparse vegetation, in a zone near the coast where the humidity is high.

La salamanquesa de casco o geco de casco (Tarentola chazaliae) es un pequeño lagarto terrestre de la familia de los Gekkonidae extendido desde el sur de Marruecos, Mauritania y el oeste del Sahara hasta Senegal. Su inclusión entre los Tarentola no está clara, y en ocasiones ha sido incluido entre los Geckonia, siendo el único representante del género. Existe cierta discusión al respecto, pero desde 2002 y a raíz de varios análisis de ADN tiende a situárselo en el primer género.
