Great Torpedo Ray

La torpille noire, Torpedo nobiliana, est une espèce de raies électrique appartenant à la famille des Torpedinidae. Elle peut peser jusqu'à 90 kg et délivrer des chocs de 60 à 230 volts dépassant 30 ampères. Utilisation Scribonius Largus évoque la torpille noire vivante comme traitement des maux de tête même des plus intolérables, selon lui le traitement est immédiat et définitif.

The Atlantic torpedo (Tetronarce nobiliana) is a species of electric ray in the family Torpedinidae. It is found in the Atlantic Ocean, from Nova Scotia to Brazil in the west and from Scotland to West Africa and off southern Africa in the east, occurring at depths of up to 800 m (2,600 ft), and in the Mediterranean Sea. Younger individuals generally inhabit shallower, sandy or muddy habitats, whereas adults are more pelagic in nature and frequent open water.

El torpedo del Atlántico o tremielga negra​ (Tetronarce nobiliana) es una especie de raya eléctrica de la familia Torpedinidae. Habita en el océano Atlántico, desde Nueva Escocia hasta Brasil en el oeste y desde Escocia hasta África occidental y austral en el este, a profundidades de hasta 800 m. Los ejemplares jóvenes generalmente viven en hábitats arenosos o fangosos menos profundos, mientras que los adultos son de naturaleza más pelágica y frecuentan el mar abierto.
